The rules of the road. What you can do with ReadRats, what we can do, and how disputes get resolved.

Release gate: Legal review must approve the service operator, governing law, venue, minimum age, moderation process, contact route, and these terms before publication. No draft value is a public promise.

ReadRats is a social reading app. By using it, you agree to these terms once the operator and legal reviewer have approved and published them.

The service

You can create and join time-bound reading challenges, log sessions, optionally attach images and notes, see a Ranking, and use challenge chat. Persistent Groups, push notifications, and Apple Sign-In are not shipped. The service is currently offered as early access and does not promise availability, pricing, or future features.

Your account and content

You must use an account to use the service. Email/password and Google Sign-In are available. You can delete your account in Profile → Delete account. You retain your content; you grant ReadRats the limited permission to host, store, and display it only to operate the service.

Do not post illegal, infringing, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, spam, or misleading content; do not impersonate others, compromise the service, or access another person’s data. Challenge chat includes reporting and blocking features. Moderation and appeal commitments require operator approval before publication.

Book information and third parties

Book search results can come from Google Books. We do not guarantee that third- party metadata is complete or correct. See the privacy policy for processing and deletion information.

The final published terms must name the responsible operator, age requirement, applicable law, venue, consumer-rights treatment, limitation language, and a monitored contact route. Those facts remain release gates; this draft does not choose them. Use the public support page until an approved contact route is published.
